Decodable texts are books that contain words that can be sounded out using phonics rules that children have learned. Here are some reasons why young readers should read decodable texts:

1. Encourages decoding skills: Decodable texts encourage children to sound out words using decoding skills, which helps them become more confident in their reading abilities.

2. Improves accuracy: When children read decodable texts, they are more likely to try to decode words, which leads to improved accuracy in reading.

3. Builds phonics skills: Decodable texts provide children with the opportunity to apply their phonics skills to real reading situations.

4. Reduces guessing: Decodable texts force readers to practice their decoding skills instead of relying on pictures or guessing.

5. Increases fluency: Decodable texts help children become more fluent readers because they are able to read words more accurately and quickly.
